MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING

IX. Tuition Assessment

At the Union's request, a working group will be formed comprising no more than six (6) members of GEO and the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, the Deans of LS&A, Engineering, and SNRE or their designees. The purpose of the working group will be to discuss tuition assessment issues.

X. International Graduate Student Training

Listed in the Appendix is the LSA Policy for support of international graduate students who participate in the May and August workshops in English Language Proficiency. For eligible students who do not take advantage of the LSA Policy, the University will provide a $25 per day food allowance to attendees of the workshop in addition to the fellowship. Both sums will be provided through the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

The University is committed to this policy for a five-year period beginning in the spring of 1999. The provisions and duration of this policy are not a part of the collective bargaining agreement. However, any graduate student who believes he/she has not been properly accorded the provisions of this policy may file a grievance with the Rackham School of Graduate Studies.
